~*~ Chapter 1 ~*~

Born December 16th, 1983, Raivyn's mother died from complications shortly after giving birth. That left her father, Trent Hartley, to raise her. He took up trucking in order to pay the bills and keep food on their table. When he was away, Raivyn's aunt and uncle took care of her. Then when she was 15, her father was killed in a tragic accident. Her aunt and uncle couldn't be bothered with her anymore, so that left her to fend for herself. She was named the sole beneficiary on her dad's unsurance policy. It wasn't much, but it would get her by for a while. Their little 2 bedroom house was paid for, but she still needed food and there were still bills to pay. And on top of that, she was only 15 and still in school. She got a job and somehow managed to make the insurance money last until she graduated high school 3 years later.

After high school, she was able to get a better job since she didn't have school anymore. She got a job at a Conoco convience store in West Chester working the midnight shift. Since nobody was applying for that shift, she ended up making a little over $10 an hour. Since it was summer time when she got the job, she just walked to work. The fact that it was the night shift never bothered her. She actually preferred it because then she would walk hime just as the sun was coming up. It gave her time to reflect and think, about life, but not just life, but everything in general; her past, her future, her family, her father, her mother, her friends, and where she was going in life. She loved sunrise. Everything was still asleep, well for the most part anyways. There were generally the "earlybirds" out, but they were few and far between.

On this particular Oktober morning, she was feeling especially calm. Her shift was ending in about 45 minutes and she was finishing her cleanup. She put her coat on and grabbed her smokes. Outside, it was just barely starting to get light out. Standing there, she is just taking the last drag on her ciggy when a car pulls in. She puts her cig out and goes back inside. After hanging her coat up, she waits at the counter for he customer. He walks in, and he goes and gets a french vanilla/hot chocolate cappuccino. He walks back up to the counter, and sets his coffee down.

"Is that everything for you this morning?" She asks.
"No ma'am. I need a pack of Marlboro 100's box please." He says.
"Alright. Anything else?"
"No ma'am that will be it for me today."

She rings up his total, and that is when she notices how good-looking he is.

"Ok, your total comes to $6.35"
"Raivyn...thats a beautiful name, and an interesting one at that." He says, noticing her nametag.
"Oh...yeah my mom gave me that name because when I was born, I had raven black hair."
"Nice nice." He says with a noticable accent.
"Thank you, come again."
"Believe me, I will." He says and takes his stuff and walks out.
